For PC's with Windows 2000, Windows XP (32 bit)

To start the download, click here

In a few seconds, the “Save” dialog should appear and the download should begin.

When the download is complete, double-click the file “TapControllerInstallation.msi” to begin the installation process.

Notice! DO NOT “Browse…” or change anything in the “Folder:” box.  Just click “Next >”. Any changes made here will cause the installation to fail.

Locate “Shortcut to TapDriverInstaller.exe” short-cut on the Desktop and click on it…

A “Scanning…” window will open.  This step may take several minutes … wait for it, then, eventually…

Click on “Continue Anyway”

The Tap Controller Driver Installer is now complete.  Proceed to the next step.

If you do not have a TAP controller available, then these steps may be completed later.  If you are connecting to an RS-232 type TAP controller, then proceed to “Obtaining Data”.

Connect a working TAP Controller to the PC with a USB cable.  Wait for the “Found New Hardware Wizard” to appear.

Click “No, not this time” and then “Next >”

Click “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” then “Next >”

Click “Continue Anyway”

Click “Finish”

You may now delete the “Shortcut to TapDriverInstaller.exe” icon from the desktop.  It is no longer required.

Obtaining Data

Click on the “Shortcut to Tap Controller 3.1.exe” icon.

Upon successful installation, the following should appear.

The “Summary Data” provides a short summary of the present state of the TAP Controller and the condition of the filter elements.

The “All Data” retrieves both the “Summary Data” and a detailed history of events.

Select the desired “Data Type” and then press “Get TAP Data”.  A “File Save As” window will appear.  The data may only be saved with the “.csv” file type.  This type is “comma separated values” which may then be automatically imported by Microsoft Excel.  In the event that a particular PC does not have Microsoft Excel, then the data will be viewed by the default “.csv” file type program currently installed.  This is usually Microsoft Notepad.

The “Data Progress” bar will indicate the transference of data. Upon completion of the data transference, the “Show TAP Data” button will be enabled.  Pressing this will cause the PC to open the “.csv” file viewer, as mentioned above.

Note for RS-232 models: Select “RS-232” in the “Interface Type” area and press “Search for TAP”.  “TAP RS-232 Ready” should appear.  The “Data Progress” indicator will change while the software is searching for a connected TAP controller. If it does not locate a TAP controller, try a second time.  Data retrieval is then the same as above.
